What is Modernmapart ?
If you are looking for a perfect way to remember your trip to Europe, your honeymoon, where you are engaged, your old school, your hometown or anything else, modernmapart is a great way to show to that nostalgia in your home. Modernmapart also creates beautiful wall art, posters, and home decor from maps.
What are Modernmapart's products made from?
The posters are made from a museum quality matte paper, and Ultrachrome ink. The ink is rated to last over 100 years, and 200 years if properly framed and maintained. The matte paper is very thick and looks great. After printing, the posters are then rolled in issue paper and put in a cardboard tube to protect them while shipping. The pillows are made from polyester, and the phone cases from a protective plastic.
How does Modernmapart make your prints?
They use OpenStreetMaps to create the map grid, and then use some styling to color in the streets, land, and water. Once they pick a city, they try to put the downtown in the center, but are flexible depending on how the map grid/shoreline looks. Then, they use the map and put it on a poster in photoshop, where Modernmapart adds the city name. It's a lot of fun staring at cities from all over the world!

“I wanted to order two maps but was told I had to order them separately and pay for shipping twice. Turns out both were shipped together in one container so you took my $9 shipping fee for the 2nd map and lined your pocket. It also took the on line support over 10 hours to reply to my inquiry about having to order each map separately. As a result, I had to go back in and reorder the 2nd map again and that time I forgot to change the size so the two maps (for the same family) are different sizes. My fault but the order process was not very user friendly.”
